I am not a early tech adopter, but as my old motherboard died I had no option but to get another one and these z690s were readily available along with the processors. So I went ahead with the DDR4 version so that I could reuse whatever I could from my old system. DDR5 is still too early and costly to justify the purchase when I am not really always that bound by RAM, just as 90% of the average to high end consumers out there.
