Great as a backup drive, that's it. Pros, I got on sale and use 500 rewards points for gift cards so I didn't pay much. At current price of 50 it's a great deal for the amount of data it can store. It's quiet and doesn't use as much power as 7200RPM drive. It has a 256MB drive cache. It's fast at reading and writing data. It's a great drive for achieving data that you want to keep for a while and don't tend to access as much. I could see using this in a RAID 1 configuration as well. It has a lower average failure rate than Seagate. Cons, It's not a good OS, gaming or regular use drive. This is the AZ series which is a SMR drive which only write data to empty tracks instead of overwriting existing tracks which don't become open until the drive goes into idle state and then the drive will delete that data. This isn't good if you're constantly writing data. If this is the case go with the RZ series because it may have only a 64MB drive cache, but it a PMR drive which is much better for writing and rewriting data constantly. Since this is a SMR drive it wouldn't be ideal for a RAID 0 at all. Not the best warranty of only two years, the Black series has a 5 year warranty if your worried about longevity. It's still prone to drive failure, remember to go online and register your drive with Western Digital just in case, for as inexpensive as this drive is I'd buy a second one as a backup or have another backup source like a cloud service, Blu-ray burner or an external HDD.
