The trend of soldering the Laptop Memorry onto the motherboard
From past few years there is a growing trend of soldering the RAM and Storage module onto the Laptop motherboard in the name of costeffextiveness and more performance. Manufacturers like Apple are constantly tryinng to nulify the upgradibility from there devices, be it their MacBook or MacMini or MacStudio. They have created an industry norm that it is okay to solder the memory and storage on their devices in the name of performance. There is no doubt that it make the manufacturing the board much easier as it avoids installing a SODIMM adapter and reduces the manufacturing od memory module itself, along with this there is a clear performance gap between the two method but the newer generation of RAM moduled like DDR5 or CUDIMM make the difference almost negligible whereas providing the customers with an option to upgrade in the future and no lock them with what they bought for the rest of the device's life. This makes the life of devices much lower than the general and will force the customer to buy again. This also crate another problem of increased cost if the given parts, a RAM or storage module cost way more as compared to normal SODIMM and nVME drive and it depends upon the manufacturer on what to charge the customers for their systems.
However there are much of the manufacturers that are still giving upgradable memory and storage to the customers with also some leniency on Right to Repair.
